For many years, women seeking breast augmentation and a breast lift in McKinney have had to choose between two types of breast implants—saline or silicone gel. But now, a third breast implant option is available. IDEAL IMPLANT® Structured Breast Implants use the latest in implant technology to provide the benefits of natural feel and only saline inside, without the undesirable drawbacks of both silicone gel and saline implants, silent rupture and unnatural feel.

“Structured” Versus Saline

Dr. J. Michael Morrissey, a board-certified plastic surgeon, is part of an exclusive group of plastic surgeons eligible to offer the new IDEAL IMPLANT. The IDEAL IMPLANT is a “structured” implant comprised of a series of shells nested together containing two separate chambers filled with saline. Because of this unique design, IDEAL IMPLANTS do not behave like typical saline implants.

Saline implants lack any sort of internal structure, so movement of the sterile saltwater solution is uncontrolled, replicating the behavior of a water balloon. Women report this rapid displacement of the fluid filler creates a less-than-natural sensation and does not imitate the feel of natural breast tissue. Also, because the outer implant shell is unsupported, saline implants are known to not hold their shape when in an upright position. This causes the implant to collapse, which can then create ripples or wrinkles.

Women do not have to worry about these occurrences if they choose “structured” implants for their breast augmentation and McKinney breast lift. The internal makeup of the IDEAL IMPLANT:

  • helps to mitigate sloshing by controlling the flow of the saline filler
  • gives the projection, volume, and youthful shape women often associate with silicone gel implants
  • provides support to the implant to prevent collapse when in an upright position
  • reduces wrinkling and rippling
  • produces the natural feel and realistic look expected with silicone gel

“Structured” Versus Silicone Gel

Following a breast augmentation and McKinney breast lift, every woman faces the risk of implant rupture, no matter the type of breast implant. A rupture happens when an implant develops a hole or tear in the outer shell allowing the inside filler to leak out. With a saline or IDEAL IMPLANT, the body can harmlessly absorb the sterile saltwater solution. This peace of mind is why many women choose saline over silicone gel. Plus, a woman can always determine her implants are intact by simply looking in the mirror. If there is a rupture, an IDEAL IMPLANT will hold part of its shape since the saline is distributed in two chambers, compared to saline implants that entirely deflate since the saline is in only one chamber.

Women that choose silicone gel implants for their breast augmentation and breast lift in McKinney face the possibility of “silent rupture.” It is called a “silent rupture” because an implant can leak sticky silicone gel into the surrounding tissues of a woman’s body for years without her knowledge. And although the trapped silicone gel needs to be surgically cleaned out of the tissue and the implant removed, many women do not even know there is an issue. MRI scans are one way to discover if a silicone gel implant has ruptured. The FDA recommends all women with silicone gel implants receive an MRI three years following their breast augmentation, then every two years thereafter.

Risk Rates of the IDEAL IMPLANT

The structural strength and innovative design of the IDEAL IMPLANT are two reasons why women experience fewer postoperative ruptures and capsule contractures than with silicone gel breast implants. A recent eight year study concluded that women with IDEAL IMPLANT Structured Breast Implants have a significantly lower risk of certain major complications following their primary breast augmentation than with silicone gel implants. The study compiled statistics for eight years regarding the rate of two specific complications—implant rupture and capsular contracture.

The risk of implant rupture with the IDEAL IMPLANT was only 2.1%. Silicone gel brand Allergan came in at 7.4%, Mentor at 13.6%, and Sientra at 7.2%. As far as capsular contracture, the FDA trial data revealed the IDEAL IMPLANT rates were at 6.6% at eight years after primary augmentation. Comparatively, Allergan was 16.2% (seven years), Mentor at 10.9% (eight years), and Sientra at 11.2% (eight years). Capsular contracture occurs when the body forms scar tissue around the implant, causing the shape or look of the implant to become distorted, and potential pain and discomfort to the woman.

Positive Breast Augmentation and McKinney Breast Lift Results with Dr. Morrissey

Below are before and after images of one of Dr. Morrissey’s patients. This 40-year-old female chose the IDEAL IMPLANT for her primary bilateral breast augmentation. Her pre-op bra size was 36 A/B. Dr. Morrissey used 370cc IDEAL IMPLANTS filled to 415cc, placed bilaterally under the muscle using an incision on the inframammary fold, to help her achieve the shape and size she desired. Pictures are five months post-operation.

History of the IDEAL IMPLANT

The IDEAL IMPLANT is a trusted choice among women pursuing a breast augmentation and/or McKinney breast lift. IDEAL IMPLANT Structured Breast Implants came about after years of extensive research, testing, and development. In 2014, the IDEAL IMPLANT was approved by the FDA and Health Canada based upon the results of a multi-center clinical trial of 502 women, and the information provided in volumes of safety and manufacturing data. IDEAL IMPLANTS are made in the USA with safe and proven breast implant materials. Furthermore, they are manufactured at an FDA-inspected facility using advanced robotics to maintain high quality standards and ensure greater product consistency.
