Women were once forced to choose between saline and silicone gel implants if they wanted a breast augmentation and breast lift. Now, a new kind of implant is available—IDEAL IMPLANT® Structured Breast Implants. This technology-driven implant combines the benefits of both silicone gel and saline to offer the benefits, without the compromises, of each type of implant.

What Makes the IDEAL IMPLANT Different?

With the IDEAL IMPLANT, women do not have to compromise beauty for safety when receiving a breast augmentation. It utilizes a unique, innovative design that was created after years of research and extensive testing. As a “structured implant,” it is the first of its type. The IDEAL IMPLANT is comprised of a series of shells nested together that hold two separate chambers filled with saline. This advanced internal structure makes it different than any other breast implant option.

Saline implants have no internal structure, making them similar to a water balloon. The upper portion collapses when the implant is upright. Saline implants also tend to wrinkle under the skin and lack the natural feel of breast tissue. This is not the case with the IDEAL IMPLANT Structured Breast Implant.

The IDEAL IMPLANT has a realistic look and natural feel due to its advanced design, not its filler. The construction of the implant:

  • Supports the upper portion so it does not collapse when upright
  • Reduces wrinkling and rippling
  • Helps control the movement of the saline to eliminate sloshing and what is known as the “water-hammer” effect
  • Provides a youthful shape and desired projection

Plus, the outside edges of the IDEAL IMPLANT have been lowered to naturally conform to the curve of a woman’s chest.

The Peace of Mind of Saline

Our “structured implant” offers peace of mind, without sacrificing beauty. If the IDEAL IMPLANT ruptures, a woman’s body safely absorbs the saline solution. Rupture is easily detected and fixed. A woman can always ensure the IDEAL IMPLANT is intact by simply looking in the mirror.

With a silicone gel implant, it is not so simple. A woman cannot determine a silicone gel implant is intact by examining the breast. An MRI scan is needed to detect the rupture of a silicone gel implant. This is known as a “silent rupture.” If a “silent rupture” occurs, the sticky silicone gel leaks into the surrounding tissues of the body and it must be surgically removed. It can be a long, extensive procedure to remove all the silicone gel. Hence, the FDA recommends women with silicone gel breast implants receive an MRI scan every two years to detect rupture.

The IDEAL IMPLANT has no such upkeep or maintenance. No MRIs are needed, saving women the expense, time, and energy compared to silicone gel implants. The IDEAL IMPLANT Structured Breast Implant also has a proven lower rupture rate and higher rupture strength.

A Youthful Look

The IDEAL IMPLANT offers the youthful look women often desire with silicone gel implants. Silicone gel implants are filled when manufactured, not during surgery. The IDEAL IMPLANT is not. They are designed so plastic surgeons have the ability to adjust the volume of every implant. This allows surgeons to cater to the exact needs of their patients and specifically create the volume and projection desired by each woman. In addition, because of the adjustable volume of the IDEAL IMPLANT, it requires a smaller incision during the breast lift and breast augmentation surgical process than with silicone gel implants. Since silicone gel implants are already filled, they can be damaged during surgery when trying to fit the implant through a limited incision area.

If Pursuing Breast Augmentation

The IDEAL IMPLANT was approved by the FDA and Health Canada in 2014. The approval was based upon the results of a multi-center clinical trial of 502 women that started in 2009. IDEAL IMPLANTS are made in the USA with safe and proven breast implant materials in FDA-inspected facilities using advanced robotics to achieve greater product consistency and high quality standards.

When pursuing breast augmentation, many women have similar questions and concerns. In the video below, a woman that began her breast augmentation journey years before the IDEAL IMPLANT was available, explains why she eventually chose to receive a “structured implant”:

“My name is Ruth. I’m a nurse and I work for a board-certified plastic surgeon. If they are in there for a breast augmentation, I like to share my story with them and let them know that I’ve been there and I’ve had three surgeries for breast implants. My very first one would have to be about 15 years ago. And back 15 years ago, all I could have was saline implants. They were a little bit too round, too firm, had some wrinkling, just didn’t really like them. So had those, and then four to five years later, I was able to switch those out and get silicone gel. When I had silicone gel, I thought, ‘Gosh, these are great. They’re so much softer.’ But I would tell you that they started changing at about four or five years. They just didn’t feel the same, soft kind of feel. Probably about nine years ago, I started hearing about the IDEAL IMPLANT. Right away when that came out, I was like, “Oh, I want this.’ But when they first came out, I wasn’t quite having trouble with my silicone gel. But once I did, I knew there was no question that I needed to have that IDEAL IMPLANT in. And so far, it’s been the best choice. It’s actually softer than my silicone gel implant was. No matter what implant you choose, you want to make sure you are choosing the right one for yourself. To me, it seems like a no-brainer. I always tell everybody, ‘If you go with the IDEAL, you get the feel, you get the softness, you get the safety. And not the worry, you don’t have to worry.’”
