Our Story

Ideal Implant Incorporated is a privately held company that was founded in 2006 by Robert S. Hamas, MD, the Dallas plastic surgeon who invented the IDEAL IMPLANT. After years of dealing with ruptured silicone gel implants and listening to patient concerns, Dr. Hamas realized that women wanted a new type of breast implant – one that would combine the natural feel of a silicone gel implant with only saline inside for safety and peace of mind.

Almost 10 years were spent developing and refining the IDEAL IMPLANT, conducting the US clinical trial with 502 women, and submitting volumes of safety, manufacturing and clinical data to FDA and Health Canada for approval. The Company has been fortunate to have the help of a dedicated team of scientists, engineers, and consultants. In addition, many plastic surgeons contributed clinical expertise to this project, because they recognized that the IDEAL IMPLANT would better address patient concerns without compromising a natural look and feel.

Over the years, a number of plastic surgeons chose to become stockholders in the Company because they believed in the IDEAL IMPLANT and the difference it could make for patients. Because of this, the Company has a strong focus on patient care and safety, with particular emphasis on attention to detail and quality control in manufacturing of the IDEAL IMPLANT. We have continually improved process controls and inspections in our FDA-approved US manufacturing facilities and the implant has demonstrated very low failure rates in comparison to silicone gel implants.  See more on the comparison here.

The IDEAL IMPLANT is available in the US and Canada through a Network of higly qualified plastic surgeons. As manufacturing capacity expands in the future, the implant will be available internationally.
