We love to hear about other people’s experiences, especially when they’ve gone through something we also plan to go through. Relating to each other in this way is something humans do best! Reading online reviews and talking to friends and family who’ve had breast augmentation, before and after, can be extremely helpful in making your decision. If you’re contemplating a specific breast implant type or size, hearing what worked for someone else can be a key factor in your decision. A recent patient of board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Christian Subbio recently underwent a breast augmentation at the end of 2019 and chose to share all about her results and recovery on RealSelf. Millions of people come to RealSelf each month to make smart, confident choices about cosmetic surgeries and procedures—and to connect with vetted, board-certified doctors.
This patient, who goes by the username of yogapantsmilf said her procedure was “worth it.” She chose IDEAL IMPLANT® Structured Breast Implants for her procedure. In her posts, she discussed her feelings and thoughts about her new breasts after surgery.
Women choose to undergo breast augmentation for various reasons, but the most common are:
- To increase natural breast size
- To correct sagging and volume loss associated with age, weight loss, pregnancy, or breastfeeding.
- To correct asymmetrical breasts
Before her surgery, yogapantsmilf was dissatisfied with the size of her breasts and wanted them to be bigger and more proportionate to the rest of her body. She describes her before-surgery size as “Deflated 32B but probably really an ‘A’ cup. Mostly wore sports bras . . .”
When you view breast augmentation before and after photos, you can see how great the patient looks, but you can’t always tell how satisfied they are with their results. After this patient’s surgery, she was extremely happy with her new shape, “I am 1 dpo [day post-op] and totally in love with my new breasts. . .’
Women who choose the IDEAL IMPLANT report very high satisfaction rates in general. Though you can expect to see a dramatic difference right away, most implants start out high and have to “drop” and settle into place over a period of time. yogapantsmilf wrote early in her recovery that “. . . They still have lots of dropping and fluffing of course but I know they will be perfect. I am 5’5, 125 pounds, 400cc ideal implant, under the muscle. Best decision ever.”
On the first day after breast augmentation surgery, yogapantsmilf noticed a change even a few hours afterward: “I can’t resist the desire to take a photo every chance I get for progress. Here’s another day 1 post op take a bit later in the day.”
Most women experience soreness, swelling, bruising, and tightness for a few days or weeks after their surgery. Your doctor will prescribe you some pain medication and advise you to avoid heavy lifting to ease some of this pain. Two days after surgery, yogapantsmilf said she experienced some of these symptoms: “Still in love with my boobs. Tracking my progress as often as possible. Woke up with my boobs hard and tight. Very uncomfortable. Took a pain pill and arnica immediately. 3 hours in I’m feeling ok. Not sure if that was the dreaded ‘morning boob’ but I’m glad it’s over.”
Just eleven days after her breast augmentation procedure, yogapantsmilf reported her level of pain had decreased dramatically. “I’m healing extremely well! Virtually no pain, just occasional tightness from slightly ‘over doing it.’ I have 2 little ones so it’s a bit hard to full relax and recover lol. But again, no complaints, my surgeon is extremely responsive via text and I’ve appreciated it big time. Steri strips are almost ready to come off too. Very minimal bruising. Love love love them already!!! My surgeon was amazing and the healing process has been a breeze!!”
Nineteen days post-surgery, yogapantsmilf said her “boobs are softening up perfectly!” She was so thrilled with her results she posted a video for other users on RealSelf to see. Most patients have to sleep on their back for about two to six weeks following surgery, but plastic surgeons sometimes ok sleeping on your side using pillows to support your side and breast. yogapantsmilf noted she was “loving my results more and more. Soft and dropping nicely, my incision scars are healing well and I’ve already started with silicon strips. Surgery and recovery has been a breeze so far. I’ve been sleeping on my side for some time and have no pain or discomfort. Probably will make my way back to the gym soon for basics like the stair climber and other low impact lower body/abs.”
Almost all patients feel like having some type of cosmetic surgery gives them a boost in their confidence. A study by the University of Basel found that “96% of the patients who underwent cosmetic procedures reported a consistently favorable outlook”. One of the most exciting things for women after breast augmentation surgery is going shopping for new bras. One month after her procedure, yogapantsmilf shares how she bought her first bralette in a bigger size: “Not sure exactly what size I am but home measurements puts me around a 32DD which seems about expected. The bralette is from Target and size medium, previously I was a small. Will wait one more month and surgeons clearance to get fitted and possibly decide on underwire bra. So far so good, just waiting for the right one to round out at bottom.”
