Breast Enhancement Choices
There are three main types of implants to choose from when it comes to breast enhancement. Knowing the materials that each one contains as well as their benefits and compromises are crucial to selecting what is right for your breast augmentation. Dr. Gregg Anigian is the expert on the subject and is more than happy to answer your personal questions.
Silicone Gel vs. Saline Implants
When considering breast augmentation, in the past women had to decide between saline or silicone gel implants. While traditional saline implants offer peace of mind in case of a rupture, they can lack a natural look and feel. In contrast, silicone gel implants have a natural feel and appearance. However, a ruptured silicone gel implant is not immediately apparent, which is why FDA recommends costly MRIs every two years to detect silent rupture.
The IDEAL IMPLANT® Structured Breast Implant
Development began in 2006 to create an alternative breast enhancement with the natural look of silicone gel and the safety of saline. The result became the IDEAL IMPLANT® Structured Breast Implant, the the latest technology in breast enhancement. The key to the IDEAL IMPLANT is its unique internal structure. Compared to silicone gel or traditional saline implants, which include only an outer shell, the IDEAL IMPLANT has a series of nested shells. The inner shell surrounds the inner chamber and saline solution. The outer shell contains the outer chamber and saline solution. Between the inner an outer shells are one to three baffle shells, depending on the size of the implant. This internal structure gives the implant its natural shape and natural feel, since it controls the movement of the saline solution.
