Saline vs. Silicone Gel Breast Implants

Many women don’t know the difference between all the types of breast implant options available for breast augmentation. It’s important to know what makes each implant distinctive so you can choose the one that’s right for your body.

Silicone gel implants: Just like its name states, these implants are filled with silicone gel, and have been around the longest. The silicone-gel feels very similar to breast tissue. These implants carry a higher rate of rupture and require MRI scans every two years to detect a leak.

Traditional saline implants: These implants are filled with salt water which can be absorbed easily by the body without harmful effects. However, traditional saline implants have no structure inside, so they tend to ripple and give the breast an abnormal shape.

IDEAL IMPLANT Offers the Best of Both Worlds

IDEAL IMPLANT® Structured Breast Implants are filled with saline enclosed within multiple shells that give the implant structure and support, so they appear more natural. Women can detect a leak just by looking in the mirror, and these implants require a smaller incision in surgery. When comparing saline vs. silicone gel breast implants, IDEAL IMPLANT offers natural feel with the safety of saline for peace of mind.
