Breast Implant Variations

Breast implants come in a variety of types, shapes, and sizes. To fully understand what plastic surgery before and after in Stoneham, MA, entails, it is important to first understand your options. Also, the overall breast augmentation cost in Stoneham, MA, varies between the different kinds of breast implants.

Silicone Gel Breast Implants: While many women choose silicone gel breast implants for their known youthful shape and natural feel, many women decide against silicone gel breast implants to avoid the risk of a potential silent rupture. A silent rupture occurs when a silicone gel implant ruptures without a woman’s knowledge, allowing sticky silicone gel to escape from the damaged implant and spread into the surrounding body tissues. An MRI scan is required to detect rupture, then surgery is needed to remove the implant and clean out the leaked gel.

Saline Breast Implants: For women that do not want to worry about a possible silent rupture, saline breast implants are a good option. A silent rupture cannot happen with saline breast implants. If a rupture occurs, detection is simple. The implant looks noticeably smaller and the body harmlessly absorbs the sterile saltwater solution until the implant is replaced. Unfortunately, saline breast implants are also known for their less-than-natural look and feel.

IDEAL Breast Implants: IDEAL IMPLANT® Structured Breast Implants combine the best features of both silicone gel and saline breast implants, without the associated drawbacks. IDEAL IMPLANTS are made up of a unique internal structure that gives women the look and feel sought after with silicone gel implants, yet the peace of mind that comes with saline. Utilizing the latest in implant technology, IDEAL IMPLANTS are unlike any other implant available.

Plastic Surgery Before and After in Stoneham, MA, with Dr. Hall

Below are plastic surgery before and after in Stoneham, MA, images of a woman in her late 30’s that wanted a natural, but fuller appearance to her breasts. At 5’6” tall and 119 pounds, she felt her breasts appeared deflated after losing weight with diet and exercise. She traveled from another state to be under the care of Dr. Hall and receive IDEAL IMPLANT Structured Breast Implants. Dr. Hall states:

“She is shown before and again, six weeks after sub-glandular placement of IDEAL IMPLANT Structured Breast Implants, size 370 cc, through an inframammary incision. The empty IDEAL IMPLANT volume is 56 cc. The back/inner lumen is filled to 214 cc. The front/outer lumen is filled to 100 cc. This gives a total volume of 370 cc. This is listed as ‘high’ fill on the sizing chart. The outer lumen is also designed to be filled to 145 cc which would give a total volume of 415 and is listed as ‘100%’ fill. This greater fill volume is similar to a high profile implant and gives a slightly firmer feel. She did not want to be fuller than the 370 upon sizing in the office and prioritized the softer feel of the implant at 370. A sub-glandular placement was chosen in her case. With a caliper pinch of 3.2 cm, her breast tissues are thick enough to hide the implant (2 cm or less is usually considered ‘thin’). Her nipples are just slightly above the breast fold, and she would be prone to a ‘waterfall effect’ with a placement of the implants below the muscle. With a sub-pectoral placement, the breast can fall off of the implant. With the sub-glandular placement, the implant drops with the breast and avoids the ‘waterfall’. So when a patient has a nipple just at or above the fold but does not yet require a mastopexy, a sub-glandular placement can be a good tradeoff when the breast tissues are thick enough to hide the implant.”
