The saline-filled IDEAL IMPLANT is a structured implant designed to give you a natural look and shape. While silicone gel breast implants and unstructured saline implants have been on the market for longer, both of these implant choices come with their compromises.
For example, silicone gel implants come with a risk of silent rupture, which means the implant can tear or break without you knowing about it. The only way to detect a rupture is with an MRI or ultrasound, which are both time-consuming and usually not covered by insurance. The FDA recommends women with silicone gel-filled breast implants get an MRI or ultrasound at five-to-six years, then every two-to-three years for life to check for ruptures. Also, while silicone gel implants may look and feel natural, the sticky, silicone gel inside them is not natural to your body. If a rupture occurs, that gel can get into your body tissues, leading to other complications like capsular contracture. The IDEAL IMPLANT is filled with saline only, and, if a rupture occurs, you can tell just by a quick glance in the mirror. In the event of a rupture, the saline will be absorbed into your body without any issues. With a lower rate of rupture and capsular contracture when compared to silicone gel-filled implants, the IDEAL IMPLANT is a choice that brings confidence.
Because silicone gel implants come pre-filled, they also require a larger incision during surgery, which translates into a bigger, more noticeable scar. The IDEAL IMPLANT is inserted into the breast pocket empty, and only filled once they are in the correct position. Dr. Tehrani says, “Patients who desire a breast enlargement procedure but do not want any visible scars can benefit from this type of implant. Unstructured saline implants are still an option for breast augmentation before and after, but many women complain that they feel unnatural since there is nothing holding the saline in place. Dr. Tehrani earned his medical degree at SUNY Downstate
Medical Center. He then became the Chief Resident in General Surgery during his residency at New York’s Beth Israel Medical Center. He continued his postgraduate training in plastic and reconstructive surgery at Kansas University Medical Center, where he served as Chief Resident once again. He is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Tehrani is the founder and director of Aristocrat Plastic Surgery.
Dr. Tehrani holds the academic position of Assistant Clinical Professor in the Dept. of Surgery at SUNY Downstate Medical Center.
